The universe has waited patiently for David Cook’s self-titled debut album David Cook, since he was crowned American Idol Winner on May 21, 2008.
The wait is finally over and David Cook will be released on November 18, 2008 on 19 Recordings/RCA Records.
David Cook stayed with what made him successful in the past with Axium.
The difference is David Cook is refined in nature rather than the raw sound of Blindsided and The Story Thus Far.
For the last month or more, we have been exposed to David Cook’s newest single “Light On.” “Light On” was co-written with Chris Cornell and it provides the listener with the type of sound David Cook will possess. Not only that, but the video sheds some light that David Cook appears to have a full band instead of flying solo.
There is some pressure on American Idol Winner David Cook to release a successful album and I believe he delivered by sticking with what made Axium popular and that is good vocals mixed with rock and roll melodies.
David Cook delivered with up-tempo rock songs like “Declaration,” “Heroes,” “Come Back to Me,” “Lie,” “A Daily AntheM” and the more melodic key rock harmony of “Permanent.” This is quite similar to what Axium had accomplished with “Hold,” “Clean Break,” “Under Fire” and “The Finish Line.”
Besides “Time of My Life” and “Light On,” I believe other popular songs will be “Declaration,” “Heroes,” “Come Back to Me” and “Lie” and “Permanent.” In fact, “Declaration” and “Heroes” have soundtrack potential too. Maybe “Declaration” and “Heroes” will be featured either together or separately in the next Hollywood superhero or action movie? Other songs that have the potential of being popular rock songs are “I Did it for You,” “Avalanche” and “A Daily AntheM.”
Finally, I am delighted that David Cook stayed with his roots and decided to release a rock-sounding album. I am hoping in the future that David Cook will release “Declaration,” “Heroes,” “Light On,” “Lie” and “The Time of My Life” acoustically, similar to Axium’s “Just in Case” and “Unlucky.” I believe they would be even more popular with acoustic rock and David Cook fans alike. I will declare that David Cook fans, young or old, male or female, will really enjoy the rock and roll and keyboard tempos of David Cook when it is released on November 18, 2008. Below is the album song list of David Cook.
