ALWAYS ACOUSTIC™ ALBUM REVIEW

Take it to the Limit Album Review by Aaron Keker of Always Acoustic TM

Austin Winkler says it best lyrically when he sings the verse “the best is yet to come.”

Was it a subliminal message that Hinder has only scratched the surface of their rock stardom?

Take it to the Limit reached the #1 album on iTunes the week of November 4th but slipped later in the week to #2.

Not bad for a band that was once told by a promoter in Chicago “that… we weren’t worth a case of beer… and the fifty bucks.”

Hinder has managed to turn that case of beer and the fifty bucks into a triple platinum success mixed with Jägr.

In my opinion, the best way that you can tell if an album will be successful or not is whether or not the listener can relate to the storyteller.

Take it to the Limit continues the theatrical storytelling of Extreme Behavior with stories about partying, one-night stands, infidelity and failed relationships. Then the moment that you want to label Hinder the heartbreak musicians, they throw in a monkey wrench and release “Loaded and Alone.”

“Loaded and Alone” is about a guy selling his soul for fortune and fame but has nothing to show for it because he is alone.

When Take it to the Limit was released on November 4th, you may have had a more difficult decision of where to purchase the album than voting for McCain or Obama because of the different bonus songs being offered at iTunes, Walmart and Best Buy.

iTunes offered “Heartless” and “One Night Stand.” I believe “Heartless” is another Hinder gem. I really enjoyed the rock and roll tempo and the catchy chorus. “You’re heartless. The devil in disguise. So heartless…”

Walmart offered an AC/DC cover of “Thunderstruck,” “Live for Today” and “Running in the Rain.”

Best Buy offered “Heaven Sent” (Live), “Loaded and Alone” (Acoustic), “Lost in the Sun” (Acoustic), “The Best is Yet to Come” (Acoustic), “Without You” (Acoustic) and “Use Me” (Live).

The six string stripped down acoustic songs are awesome and provide the listener with a different interpretation of the song.

“Without You” (Acoustic) is mixed with a classical string section appeal that did not change much from the album version. The video is available for viewing at Hinder’s web site and is lighter in nature than “Better than Me.”

Finally, if you enjoyed triple platinum Extreme Behavior, then you will definitely enjoy Take it to the Limit. Take it to the Limit continues the theatrical storytelling about partying, one-night stands, infidelity and failed relationships but it is a winning formula for Hinder. Listeners seldom remember the “I am so happy in love songs” but they do remember the “heartbreakers.” Heartbreak musicians or not “the best is yet to come” for Hinder. Below is the album song list for Take it to the Limit.
