The first time that I became exposed to Snow Patrol was back on April 30, 2004 when they released four songs acoustically.
The album was titled Napster Live and was released about a year and a half before Live and Acoustic from Park Ave. - EP.
I really enjoyed the acoustic recordings of “Run” and “Spitting Games” that I became inspired and purchased Final Straw shortly thereafter.
When I asked several of my friends whether they were familiar with Snow Patrol, and they told me they were not, I was shocked.
When I heard Eyes Open exploded in popularity, including selling over 4.7 million copies worldwide, I thought that Snow Patrol finally received their notoriety that they so rightfully deserved.
Now Snow Patrol’s notoriety will hopefully continue as they released their follow-up album to Eyes Open, which is A Hundred Million Suns. The album was released on iTunes and everywhere else on October 28, 2008.
Snow Patrol has followed up in epic proportions, like Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain,” with a 16:18 song “The Lightning Strike.” The song of epic proportions was inspired by the overwhelming success of “Chasing Cars.”
One of my favorite songs from A Hundred Million Suns is the melodramatic key harmony of “The Planets Bend Between Us.” In fact, the album was named because of the verse “and a hundred million suns and stars” in that song.
If you enjoyed previous Snow Patrol songs like “Run,” “Chocolate” and “Hands Open” that started off melodramatically and gradually rose to being up-tempo or songs that start up-tempo and stayed there, then you should really enjoy the tempo variations of “If There’s a Rocket Tie Me to It,” “Take Back the City” and “Disaster Button.”
Finally, if you are looking for the music in epic proportions, the melodramatic key harmony or the different tempo variations, then this is a must-have for anyone who enjoys Snow Patrol’s music. If you enjoy music videos, make sure you purchase Take Back the City on iTunes now. Below is the album song list of A Hundred Million Suns.
A Hundred Million Suns:
1. “If There’s a Rocket Tie Me to It” 2. “Crack the Shutters” 3. “Take Back the City” 4. “Lifeboats” 5. “The Golden Floor” 6. “Please Just Take These Photos from My Hands” 7. “Set Down Your Glass” 8. “The Planets Bend Between Us” 9. “Engines” 10. “Disaster Button” 11. “The Lightning Strike”
