SCHUBAS, Chicago - Last evening, the acoustic folk singer, Kate Walsh, from Brighton, U.K. performed the late, late show at Schubas in Chicago, Illinois.

As Kate Walsh entered the stage at 11:46 p.m., she fingerpicked her guitar the entire evening, beginning with her first song, which was “Fireworks.”

Kate Walsh performed a majority of her songs like “Fireworks,” “French Song,” “Talk of the Town,” “Tonight,” “Don’t Break My Heart” and “Your Song” from Tim’s House.

Also, Kate Walsh performed new songs like “June Last Year,” “Light and Dark,” “As He Pleases,” “The Greatest Love” and “The Sea Fairy.” Possibly songs from her new album?

Earlier that evening, Kate disclosed to me in an interview that she is recording at Tim’s House again but would not disclose to me the title of her new album. All I can tell you it that will not be Tim’s House 2.

I really enjoyed the laid back melodic, acoustic harmonies of Kate Walsh that evening. Even though, Kate is known for writing sad songs about past failed relationships and has been even told to “cheer up” in concert, the Chicago audience embraced her with open arms.

As Kate Walsh was preparing to leave the stage, several individuals asked for “one more song.”

Kate Walsh decided to play one last fingerpicked song, which was “The Sea Fairy.” Once again like every song that concluded the audience provided her with an amazing cheer.

From Kate Walsh’s enthusiasm for playing the late, late show at Schubas to the audience’s cheerfulness of her melodic, acoustic harmonies, what a wonderful Friday evening to spend with Kate Walsh and her very first performance ever in Chicago.

If you enjoy acoustic music or music similar to Tori Amos than you will definitely enjoy Kate Walsh’s music. Kate Walsh’s album Tim’s House is available at iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody or any store that sells her music. Also, Clocktower Park and the video for “Your Song” are available at iTunes as well.

Finally, I am looking forward to providing future coverage of Kate Walsh next time she performs in Chicago. Hopefully, as Kate’s popularity continues to rise, she will perform at venues like Park West in Chicago. Other acoustic artists that have performed there are Corinne Bailey Rae, Katie Melua and Rhett Miller. Below is the set list for Kate Walsh at Schubas in Chicago.

Schubas Set List:

  1. “Fireworks”
  2. “June Last Year”
  3. “French Song”

  7. “Don’t Break My Heart”
  8. “Your Song”
