The main reason why the emptiness was not perceived in the MetroCentre is because people actually wanted to see the opening band, which was Cavo.
ROCKFORD METROCENTRE - Did King Kong invade the MetroCentre last evening in Rockford, Illinois? Actually, no! The man in the gorilla suit was Cavo’s guitar tech Scott Rock Davis whose “parting gift” was to dress up before departing to work as the new guitar tech for GN’R.
While some individuals may have thought it was hilarious, others may have been scratching their heads wondering “What the hell just happened?” Luckily, King Kong did not overshadow Cavo’s performance.
One of the most impressive things occurred after Cavo’s performance. There was a huge line of people that started from outside of Section 121 and wrapped all the way around to Section 124. Why? For an opportunity to meet Cavo and have their merchandise signed by the band. Some of those individuals were so determined that they even missed Lifehouse’s entire performance.
What do you think the individual or individuals that once remarked to Casey Walker, “How long are you going to keep playing in this band; when are you going to quit this hobby?” are thinking now?
Casey Walker’s vocals cannot be described as being “rough” as if he is sitting in some karaoke bar every Saturday night, downing a few beers and singing a few of his favorite melodies. Casey’s vocals are refined and pleasant enough to listen to that a person would not be inclined to turn the radio every time they heard his voice.
In fact, Cavo’s music is strong enough that they could even headline someday at the Rockford MetroCentre. Last evening, there were some empty seats, however not as many as you’re accustomed to seeing for an opening rock act. The main reason why the emptiness was not perceived in the MetroCentre is because people actually wanted to see the opening band, which was Cavo.
Cavo entertained the audience with a six song set list that included hit songs like “Crash,” “Let it Go” and “Champagne.” I believe if Cavo would have played “Let it Go” acoustically alongside the crowd lighting up the MetroCentre with their cell phones, they probably would have received their loudest ovation of the evening.
For those of you who will be attending one of the Daughtry concerts between May 24 and June 20, 2010, I encourage you to arrive to the venue early and watch Cavo’s performance because you will not be disappointed. Everyone should take the opportunity to meet and greet with Cavo after their performances, otherwise if you hesitate, the next time you might actually have to pay for it. Jump on the Cavo bandwagon!
