Today, Brett Dennen released his third album Hope for the Hopeless on Dualtone Music Group/Downtown Music.
Multi-platinum producer John Alagia, who has also worked with John Mayer and Dave Matthews Band, produced Hope for the Hopeless.
The romantic melodic harmonies of “Closer to You,” “Follow Your Heart” and “Ain’t Gonna Lose You” might just set the scene for a romantic evening with that special loved one.
If you are not feeling romantic, you might be able to relate to Brett on “San Francisco” when he sings, “leave if you need to leave, but I won’t be here.”
Brett Dennen draws you in vocally in his storytelling just like Harry Chapin used to do. One most wonder if Brett’s career started with a six string and a story around the campfire?
Additional songs that I enjoy are “Wrong About Me,” “When She’s Gone” and the beat pulsing sound of “Make You Crazy.”
In fact, the video of Make You Crazy not only features Femi Kuti but also the lovely Mandy Moore is in the video too.
Finally, if you enjoy a good storyteller who can draw you in vocally around the campfire or an intimate setting, than Hope for the Hopeless might just be the album for you. Below is the album song list for Hope for the Hopeless.
Hope for the Hopeless:
1. “San Francisco” 2. “Make You Crazy” (feat. Femi Kuti) 3. “Heaven” 4. “Closer to You” 5. “Wrong About Me” 6. “So Far from Me” 7. “When She’s Gone” 8. “World Keeps Turning" 9. “Who Do You Think You Are?” 10. “Follow Your Heart” 11. “Ain’t Gonna Lose You”
