ALWAYS ACOUSTIC™ ALBUM REVIEW

Tuesday, March 24, 2009
By Aaron Keker

Unfortunately, Johari Window sounds more like a live performance without an audience.

In life, there are always risk takers. Those who are willing to take a chance no matter if the consequences could lead to a negative impact.

Carlon took that risk when they decided to record Johari Window in a 20,000 square foot warehouse, instead of a more confined recording studio.

The risk was insurmountable and the instrument and vocal echo effects on “Rosie,” “The Haunt” and “Murder the Night” were too much for Johari Window to handle.

Unfortunately, Johari Window sounds more like a live performance without an audience.

Honestly, Carlon’s risk may have worked had they recorded their music with a bunch of quiet fans, which would have in turn minimized any echo effects of an empty warehouse.

It is a shame because “Rosie,” “The Haunt” and “Murder the Night” may have been a smashing success had they been recorded in a studio.

There may be some individuals out there who might actually enjoy the echoing sound of the instruments and vocals; I am just not one of them.

Although, Carlon took a risk and the instrument and vocal echo effects on Johari Window are too much for me to handle, some individuals may enjoy it. If that’s the case, then Johari Window is the perfect album for you. Below is the song list for Johari Window.

Johari Window:
1. “Mixed Messages”
2. “Cantaloupe”
3. “Where the Driveway Ends”
4. “Caution”
5. “Rosie”
6. “Red Rover”
7. “Have a Window”
8. “Learn from Your Friends”
9. “Noel”
10. “The Haunt”
11. “Rutherford”
12. “Murder the Night”
