The Foo Fighters released their new album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace on September 25, 2007 on Roswell Records.
This is their sixth studio album release that starts right off where In Your Honor and Skin and Bones concluded. Once again Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters roll the dice and create something new.
It started with offering a two disc set with an electric and acoustic sound on the album In Your Honor. In Your Honor was then followed by a live acoustic album Skin And Bones.
Before In Your Honor and Skin And Bones the Foo Fighters never really rolled the dice on playing their songs acoustically except on various single import albums. On the single import album Everlong – Australian Limited Edition you can listen to an acoustic version of See You. On the album Stacked Actors (Australian Single) you can listen to acoustic versions of Ain’t It The Life and Floaty.
Those songs sound as good acoustically as their original electric versions. These albums are just a few of many import albums of the Foo Fighters that may be floating out there that had songs that were played acoustically. So, before Foo Fighters released In Your Honor and Skin And Bones they never released an album where the entire album was played acoustically. So, they rolled the dice and it turned out the albums were successful.
I listened to the album in its entirety and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The album commences with an echo with the hit song The Pretender and concludes gracefully with Home. The songs in between like Come Alive, Stranger Things Have Happened, Summer’s End, Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners and But, Honestly provide the silence and patience of an album that should be as popular as their previous albums.
If you enjoy the Foo Fighters music you should definitely purchase Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace at iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody or any other store that sells their music. In fact, if you were one of the lucky ones who purchased the album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace on iTunes, it included two bonus tracks Once & For All (Demo) and Seda.
For those of you who really enjoy The Pretender, I encourage you to purchase the video on iTunes. In fact, if you like all of the Foo Fighters videos, you can purchase their video album Video Retrospective that includes Best of You, Times Like These, Walking After You, My Hero, Everlong and Monkey Wrench.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Foo Fighters, and I would be shocked if any of you in the universe were at least unfamiliar with their name or at least Dave Grohl, visit their website at www.foofighters.com or their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/foofighters. If you visit their MySpace page you can listen to the music. If you decide that you enjoy their music, I encourage you to purchase their albums. If you can afford it purchase all six albums.
Finally, I am looking forward to seeing the Foo Fighters next time they perform in Chicago. If you are interested in seeing the Foo Fighters perform near a city near you check out their website or MySpace page for tour information. Hopefully, when I see the Foo Fighter performance, they will play several of their songs acoustically.
